Experience

I have been working in childcare and education for over 36 years. During my career I have owned my own chain of nurseries and lectured at Truro and Penwith colleges on early years courses including CACHE and BTEC and trained EYP's with SWIFT in Cornwall. I have over 11 years' experience of managing early years settings and have been awarded Outstanding.

I am currently a freelance Early Years Consultant and provided training and quality assurance
checks to settings seeking expert advice in early years and education. I act as
mentor to them and provide them with reports on how the setting is doing and how it can be improved.

I have been asked to be a key note speaker at the Sunderland early years conference and I have regularly put on training sessions for SCIL, NDNA, Future Creative and PACEY with regard to early years education and working with parents. I have also trained as an inspector with Tribal. Whilst working for SCIL I have put on training sessions and worked with groups of family support workers to gain an award in working with parents. For PACEY, as an Associate I taught and assessed a Level 3 qualification for child minders, regularly visiting them in their settings. I also hosted a question and answer session on their podcast.

I have written several books on early years topics including 'Inclusion and diversity in the early years' and 'Inclusive practice' for Practical Pre School books and run my own publishing company - Daisy Chain Educational Publishers - where I have published 17 books on early year's topics.

I also write regularly for the CACHE Allumni website and have 3 series on there at present including one on the A- Z of play, Theorists and a Consultants Blog.
